Macula Eye Care
The macula is a light-sensitive piece of retinal tissue in the center of the back of your eye. It is the part of the eye where your most central and sharp vision comes from. The macular tissue can be adversely affected with numerous conditions. The most common adverse macular condition, called macular degeneration, affects approximately one in 10 Americans aged 50 and older annually. And of course with your retinal exam with us we will be taking a careful look at your macula.
Although there may be no direct hereditary risk, It is always recommended that you have a complete retinal exam yearly if anyone in your direct family line had or has macular disease.
