Pediatric Eye Care

Good eyesight is critical for a child as they grow and develop. Their eyesight is particularly correlated with their ability to see in the classroom, for reading or viewing computers at close range, and their eye teaming abilities. Eye teaming is just as critical as good eyesight because it can affect the child’s ability to track gross objects in sports or small images such as words on a paper or a computer screen. Physical activities and sports also require strong vision and eye teaming.

Deficiencies in a child’s vision can lead to tiredness, trouble concentrating, lack of coordination in sports, and even being mislabeled as having attention deficit disorder.

When to perform a pediatric eye exam?  At ExaminEyes we recommend that a child’s eyes are examined at least once a year, sometimes even more often if the child’s prescription is unstable or we are watching for proper vision development and eye teaming. And of course, just like in an adult comprehensive eye exam, the ocular health of your child should be evaluated routinely. In children who may be found to have a vision problem, early diagnosis and treatment is best!
